6 TIPS FOR A NATURAL PREGNANCY & BIRTH FOR MUSLIMAHS

Put your trust in Allah and remember that ultimately HE is in control. Be specific with your Duas and have full faith that Allah will bless you with what is best (even though we may not realise it at the time). There are many authentic duas recorded in the Quran and sunnah that reference childbirth and gaining Allah's support through difficult times.

2- Breathe

Sounds simple enough right? It's something many of us forget to do in the height of a contraction. Breathing deeply with focus during labour can drastically decrease the intensity of a contraction, as well as producing a calming effect. It is best to practice during pregnancy until it becomes second nature. Get your birth partners to practice too!

3- Thikr

Remembering Allah during the height of a contraction is a great way to re-focus energy from pain and fear to submission. Submission is one of the best tools for helping labour to progress!

4- Get Moving

Want to shorten labour and help to get your baby in an optimal position for birth? Get moving! Whether it's rolling your hips on a birth ball or going for a stroll around the park, be sure to have periods of activity and rest during labour utilising different positions in order to help things along.

5- Snack Attack

Let’s be honest, labour is hard work. In order to keep up with the demands of labour you need to snack lightly and stay hydrated. Another plus for drinking during labour to stay hydrated is avoiding an IV!

6- Relax!

Your eyes, your shoulders, your jaw, your hands, in fact relax every single part of your body. This is something you will need to practice during pregnancy in order to master but, it will make the world of difference to your birth experience.
